“Stone Age” refers to the the first period in the three-age system of archaeology, as an echo to the current period “anthropocene“ that human have entered since the first atomic bomb in 1945. We are currently in this discontructive period of time, a post-apocalyptic age, when techonology and consumerism renewing and updating itself, with an (un)intentionally devastating nature.

Shanghai is updating itself quicker than a digital operation system, where old traces were treated as “shames”, something need to be hidden, be covered, be vanished, be ashamed of, and unaccessible. With the updates done, it presents itself proudly and loudly, as if the previous traces had never existed.

The short time window of the “Ground Zero” depicts a ruthless motivation with a post-apocalyptic manner, wipes out itself from the context of an urban space, returns to the Stone Age, or accelerates to the soon-to-be-coming neo Stone Age.
