In 2019 autumn and winter, I explored the demolished sites and construction site in Shanghai, where almost all the traces of previous residents’ life were removed, but still there were some items/debris remind you that there were not only residents used to live there, but also composing different stories.

The trucks roared by with cement and metal, the stray dogs and cats lingering around trying to find food, they are all reminding you that this soon-to-be-gone area is not only almost invisible in space, but also invisible in time, as new buildings will soon to replace it to make the metropolis more homogenous.

“Shanghai Debris” will be an on-going project.
